Soap Writer Passed Away

Former Young And The Restless writer Hogan Sheffer passed away at the age of 61. The former writer’s cause of death has not been revealed. The day he died has also not been revealed. Hogan’s death was confirmed by his friend Tom Casiello.

Tom posted Hogan’s death on Facebook. He referred to Hogan as his dear friend. Tom shared a long tribute to his friend. Tom met him when they were working on As The World Turns. Tom said that Hogan was his mentor. Tom considered him like a father to him.

Hogan Sheffer, whose real name was Mark Wayne Sheffer, was born on June 12, 1958. His brother actor Craig Sheffer gave his the nickname Hogan. Craig thought he looked like a pianist named Hoagy Carmichael.

Hogan got his start in Hollywood as a script analyst in 1986. He worked on different screenplays such as Galaxy Quest and What Lies Beneath. He was the head writer of As The World Turns. He won Emmys for his work on the soap opera in 2000,  2001, 2003 and 2004. He was a co-head writer on Days Of Our Lives in 2006-2007. His most recent work in daytime was on The Young And The Restless. He was the co-head writer in 2008-2013. The writer won his fifth Emmy with the soap opera.
